Children can have a cruel, absolute sense of justice. Children can kill a monster and feel quite proud of themselves.”

Author: Holly Black

In the town of Fairfold, somethings have just always been. The town’s people have always known about the faeries living in the woods. The faeries have always been dangerous.  The boy in the glass coffin has always been there. Tourists come from far and wide to see the sleeping faery boy, Sometimes they go deep into the forest to see the faeries, and sometimes they don’t come back.

Hazel and her brother Ben, grew up in Fairfold. They used to dream that they were heroes and that together they could awaken the boy in the coffin and join him in a grand adventure. but those were dreams of children. Now in high school, Hazel and Ben are too old to believe they can change anything in their screwed up little town.

For the most part, Fairfold, is a quiet, peaceful town. Until the day the glass coffin was found empty!

I recommend this book to fans of fantasy. Holly Black is one of the best modern fantasy writers today.
