The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell

“a villain is just a victim whose story hasn’t been told.”

Alex and Conner have always loved grandma’s book of fairy tales. It was more than a book, it became a safe place when their father died and their mother had to work such long hours. They never imagined that they would fall inside the storybook! Nice as it is to meet Cinderella, Alex and Connor can only think of getting home.

. . . Maybe they should trying clicking their heels together?

As the kids journey around the land of stories meeting fairy tale characters and assembling the pieces they need for a magic spell to send them home, they soon learn Snow White’s evil step-mother has escaped! She’s got a magic spell of her own to cast, using the same items Alex and Conner need. Who will gather the items and cast the spell first?

I really enjoyed this book. I love the idea of Goldilocks being framed for breaking and entering. The Charming brothers were a nice way to explain how every princess could end up with “Prince Charming.” I still prefer Fables with Prince Charming being a cad and having a string of ex-wives, but it all worked out.
